This is such a stellar breakdown Devon, love how you dug into the nuances of what this means for the fashion industry. When people see 50% IMU it sounds big, but it gets chipped away at so fast. And tack on brands trying to figure out if they need to change factories with tariffs, which is a whole other time and capital-intensive process. Agree that the silver lining is this could force consumption culture to change and help consumers turn to secondhand first.

What a interesting analysis. I love your posts! And it’s not just clothing getting more expensive - it’s most other things as well. I’m very curious to see what effect the 10 % overall tariffs will have on the US economy. Many still seem to think it’s the exporting country that pays the increased/new tariffs (and don’t know there was 0 % tarrifs in most cases where Trump reported huge tariffs (which were in reality the US trade deficit)), not the US consumer. How will the consumers react when most things increase in price at the same time? That being said, I think the country that invented Amazon Prime and same day delivery needs to calm down its shopping habits just a tiny bit… ☺️
